The Johnsons are starting the summer rodeo season by hitting the road hard and handling minor set backs like the pros they are.

On June 1st Sherrylynn and J.T. competed at the rodeo in Hugo, Oklahoma. The following morning Sherrylynn woke up with a nasty bout of food poisoning. Nothing was helping so Mike took Sherrylynn to the hospital where they gave her medication and an IV for fluids.

Sherrylynn explained to the doctor that she had to be at a rodeo in Licking, Missouri that night and asked for another dose of medicine and a prescription to take with her. The doctor agreed, although not likely without some bewilderment.

Mike and Sherrylynn left the hospital, went home, loaded horses, stopped by a pharmacy for the prescription and made it to Licking, Missouri in time for the slack barrels after the rodeo … and placed 4th!

Back on the road and feeling better, Sherrylynn placed 7th in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, 2nd in Bennington, Kansas and 7th in Elizabeth, Colorado on Sunday June 5th.

Rodeo dates through mid June also included Garden City, Kansas on June 8th, Cortez, Colorado on July 9th, Union, Oregon on July 10th, Sisters, Oregon on July 11th and Livermore, California on June 12th.

For folks that aren’t familiar with The Johnson’s and J.T.’s story, J.T. had severe allergies that were affecting his performance. The Johnsons started using Spalding Lab’s Bye Bye Odor in the trailer and stalls and J.T.’s allergies and his performance improved. The Johnsons also use Bye Bye Odor in the black water tank of their trailer, and like so many others, every other place there’s an odor or ammonia they don’t want to live with or have their horses live with.
