For the past few years Spalding Labs has supported the South Rowan High School FFA in North Carolina by providing Fly Predators and t-shirts for their annual sales competition.

During the sales competition the members learn about the selling process and about marketing. Participating students gain in depth knowledge about Fly Predators and the process by which they reduce fly populations. Then they gain experience by stepping out of their comfort zone and explaining Fly Predators to potential customers.

The South Rowan FFA group’s junior team placed first! The senior team placed eighth out of 26 teams. Senior teams can be grades 9-12 but the South Rowan senior team actually consisted of all freshman. The group is led by Laura Hoffman, Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor.

Members of South Rowan’s FFA club attend monthly meetings, participate in career development contests, attend leadership workshops, travel and meet other students from across North Carolina and the country and, of course, have lots of fun.

FFA’s Agricultural Education prepares students for careers in agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems. The National FFA Organization (formerly Future Farmers of America) wants all agricultural education students to discover their passion and chart the course for their educations, career and future.

FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for leadership and success through agricultural education.

Congratulations to the group on a job well done!
