It’s that pumpkin EVERYTHING time of year. Pumpkin is yummy. Pumpkins are fun to carve. Some folks still enjoy Pumpkin Spiced Lattes even or what about Pumpkin Spiced Donuts!? Yum. Anyway, you get the idea. There’s a lot of orange flying around this month. What about sharing this endulgence with our horsey friends? It’s ok to feed your horse pumpkin but here’s a new notes to help you ensure their safety in the process.
Slice smaller pieces to mitigate choking hazzards. Give them only one slice at a time. A few slices per day is ample service. Don’t over do it! Never feed your horse from a pumpkin that has had candle wax inside. Never feed your horse from a pumpkin that’s started to rot or mold or is mushy inside. Don’t feed them the stalk… again avoid this choking hazard. Never feed your horse from a pumpkin that’s been painted. Gourds are not pumpkins so don’t mistakenly feed them a gourd. Last but not least, remember to never feed other people’s horses without their permission.
