I was fortunate enough to have a chance to connect with Jason Diestel to "talk turkey" and turkey ranch family life. The Diesel Turkey Ranch has been a long time customer of Fly Predators! If you buy your west coast turkey from Costco, it's likely you're eating Diestel!

  1. Growing up 4th generation, has it been your passion from an early age to be part of the family business?
    1. Yes it has been a family tradition from the early 1920’s before Diestel was a brand. The most rewarding part is delivering on high quality.
  2. What sets Diestel’s apart from other ranches?
    1. Quality, we go above and beyond to ensure that every bird is exceptional.
  3. How has your vision for sustainable family farming developed since your first humus composting project in college?
    1. We have always been looking for ways to work with nature rather than against it, biological answers to modern production challenges…on the farm or in processing are very exciting to us.
  4. Do you have a favorite post Thanksgiving family recipe you could share with us?
    1. http://diestelturkey.com/turkey-split-pea-soup/
  5. How long have you been using Fly Predators on your farm and what is your favorite thing about them?
  6. We have been using fly predators for longer than I can remember. At least 6 years. Fly Predatorsare a sustainable way to make a meaningful impact on the fly populations. The difference is night and day.

Thanks to Jason for taking time to connect with me on this busy time of year! Happy Thanksgiving to you all! -Angelea
